Public Information Meeting on Route 195 Water Main Project

There will be a public information meeting on Tuesday, June 30, at 7 p.m. at the Town Council Chambers of Mansfield Town Hall regarding the construction of the five mile long pipeline that will bring water from Tolland to Mansfield/Storrs along the Route 195 corridor.

UConn and Connecticut Water recently received the last of the required regulatory approvals to allow for pipeline’s construction. The project has been studied extensively over a period of several years and deemed to be the best solution for the long term water supply needs of UConn and the Mansfield/Storrs area.

The construction will be completed in four segments along the Route 195 corridor. The first segments to be installed will be

    • 7,000’ of pipe on Route 195 from the area of the Mansfield Four Corners to just south of Mansfield Supply; and
    •  3,000’ of pipe on Route 44 from the intersection at Route 195 west to Connecticut Water’s water system at Jensen’s Rolling Hills system.

The first work areas were chosen to minimize disruption and impact on traffic flows in the area closest to the University when school is in session.

Water main construction is scheduled to begin the week of July 6th.

Representatives of UConn and Connecticut Water will be in attendance at the June 30th meeting. Information will be presented on the pipeline route and estimated timing of project sections. In addition, Connecticut Water will share information on how you can receive timely updates on the project and any lane closures via their website, emails and text alerts.
