Facilities and Transportation

  • Transformation on the Horizon

As construction associated with the Next Generation Connecticut (NGC) initiative begins in earnest this summer, the Office of Planning, Architectural & Engineering Services (PAES) has prepared maps to communicate where activity is likely to occur over the next two years.

Temporary impacts and permanent changes to our physical environment will be inevitable.  This may include alterations to our roads, walks, parking, transit routes and traffic patterns. PAES is working with Logistics Administration, Facilities Operations and other departments to mitigate their cumulative effects on our campus and the daily lives of our students, faculty and staff.

Please visit http://paes.uconn.edu and take a moment to review the information under the heading “Construction Activity Maps" and contact PAES with any questions, comments or concerns.  These maps will be updated frequently as construction schedules change.

    About Next Generation Connecticut

Next Generation Connecticut (NGC) is an initiative to greatly expand educational opportunities, research, and innovation in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines at UCONN over the next decade.

NGC represents one of the most ambitious state investments in economic development, higher education and research in the nation. Its investments will transform UCONN into a top public research institution, fueling Connecticut’s economy with new technologies, training highly-skilled graduates, and creating new companies, patents, licenses, and high-wage jobs.

Major components of this ten-year plan include:

    • Building research facilities to house materials science, physics, biology, engineering, cognitive science, genomics and related disciplines
    • Constructing new teaching laboratories
    • Upgrading aging infrastructure
