Maggie Bertram, of Active Minds, Inc., will be coming to speak at the Student Union Theater on Monday, 4/27/15 at 7:00pm. This powerful speaking engagement will be the final event of this year’s Fresh Check festivities!
Maggie Bertram, a UConn graduate student alum, is an eating disorder survivor who lives with anxiety and depression. Since first receiving treatment, she has made it her goal to educate college students about the prevalence of mental health disorders, destructive effects of stigma, and benefits of speaking up and seeking help. Through sharing her own story of healing, coming out as queer, and asking for help, Maggie empowers audiences to pull together and create webs of support so that everyone can be themselves and get the help they need without judgment or shame.
