  • 3/7 Spring into Spring with the CT Horse Symposium

    Participants Wanted!! Looking for Riders, Drivers and of course Spectators!! Horses available for those who can walk, trot and canter in control in dressage or Western disciplines and will sign a release form.  You can also use a UConn Horse for the in-hand showmanship clinic if you have experience leading a horses. Sat morning dressage; Sat afternoon focuses on in hand (good for all disciplines) and Western, and drive a draft horse on Sunday!

    This year's symposium will feature clinics on dressage by Meg Brauch 9-12 Saturday morning; showmanship, trail, and Western horsemanship by Brooke Fowler 1-4 PM Saturday and Draft Horse Driving by Cedar Knoll Farm 9-12 Sunday. Horses will be available for use in the clinics by those in the Horse Practicum and participants are invited to bring their own horses. Those who do not ride in the practicum, but are able to walk, trot and canter under control can ride a UConn horse at an additional cost of $20/session or show a horse in hand for $20/session. To ride in the clinic, it is $50 per session with your horse, $70 using a UConn horse per session or if you are a student at UConn, there is a $35 fee per session. If you wish to drive on Sunday using the draft horses, it is $50 to drive their horses, 4-H leaders, members, ages 9-18, and UConn students pay $35 to drive. UConn students, 4-H leaders, members, and ages 9-18 pay $5 as spectators.  All participants must sign a release form. In addition to the demonstrations, there will be a vendor fair and a UConn women's polo match as well as the UConn Morgan Drill Team The UConn Equine Club will be selling pizza on Saturday.
