Objective of the Study:
Investigating Various Approaches for Altering Software Update Messages to Improve the Likelihood of Update Application
Principal Investigator: Mohammad Maifi Hasan Khan, Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Brief Description:
Participants are asked to come into our lab for a survey style experiment where users will be asked to evaluate aspects of a series of different messages related to the persuasiveness of the messages. Subsequently, the participant and the researcher will have an open format, interview-style conversation about the update images and responses to the survey questions. As a part of the study, we will collect information about the user such as age, sex, and education. The researcher will record the study with an audio recorder for easier and more thorough review of interview responses for research purposes.
The user will not be given any feedback regarding his/her performance at the end of the study. Participant will receive $15 Amazon gift certificate for their participation. The experiment may take approximately 30 to 60 min.
This protocol was approved by the UConn IRB, protocol #H14-281
Qualification Requirement: The user must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to participate.
