  • 1/29 Media Training for Faculty

University Communications is offering media training throughout the spring semester for faculty and staff. The sessions are designed to instill confidence among members of the academic community in speaking with news media. The 75-minute discussion reviews the value of responding to media queries and covers what to anticipate during an interview, how to prepare for one, and when to defer to University Communications.

The following sessions, from 9:30 a.m.10:45 a.m., will be held in the first floor conference room of  Lakeside Building, at 34 North Eagleville Rd.

    Thursday, Jan. 29

    Wednesday, Feb. 25

    Thursday, March 26

    Wednesday, April 29

Tim Miller, a research communications specialist in University Communications, will be leading the sessions. Tim has communicated about research discoveries for the Boston Museum of Science and also designed a course about the best practices for communicating research for faculty at Harvard, a venture that ultimately turned into a consulting company.  We are fortunate that Tim learned about President Herbst’s strategic initiatives surrounding research and joined UConn, and will be sharing his expertise with our academic community.
