Join us in welcoming Rudy Gutierrez and DK Dyson to the Arena Gallery on Thursday, October 30th, at 3:30 pm.
Rudy Gutierrez teaches at Pratt Institute in New York City. His clients include Sony, People Magazine, Rolling Stone, Verve and Arista Records, the U. S. Postal Service, and Artists for a new South Africa. His awards include a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators, and the Dean Cornwell Hall of Fame Recognition Award, the American Library Association Notable Children’s Book award, and many others.
Gutierrez work is exhibited internationally. He has contributed art to the First Annual Anti-Apartheid show at the United Nations, donated art to the International Cultures Foundation, and exhibited at the World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa.

DK Dyson is a contemporary musician and composer. She co-led the Sony/Epic band EYE & I. The group broke down racial and musical stereotypes with a sound that married heavy Rock and Funk with Jazz smarts. She has performed with Living Colour, Ornette Coleman and the Jazz Passengers, Mavis Staples and Debbie Harry. She scored the short film The Task, and has composed and performed theme songs for syndicated television. She has also flavored the dance companies of Bill T. Jones, Dianne McIntyre, and Ron Brown with her live vocalese stylings.
Dyson has conducted workshops and provided her vocals and recordings to healing, spiritual, and educational organizations such as NAALA on the Lakota Rosebud reservation, HYPE at Riker’s Island Prison and Def Dance Jam Workshop, a dance troupe featuring hearing impaired and physically challenged kids.
