    Provost Mun Choi and Dean Richard Schwab will hold an Investiture and Medals Ceremony to honor the Neag School’s most recent Endowed Professors and the Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor.

     

    Neag Celebration and Faculty Talks

    Laurel Hall, Wilbur Cross Building 

    The Neag School of Education faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the naming of the school by Ray and Carole Neag. The event kicks-off with a Neag tribute and remarks by Dean Richard Schwab, a keynote address by alumna Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis ’05, ’06, followed by presentations from Neag School of Education Endowed Professors and the Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor. The event concludes with a luncheon at the Wilbur Cross Building. Everyone who registers and attends will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Alumni and students are invited to participate in a group photo, wearing their T-shirt, before lunch.

    • Dr. Preston Green III: Having it Both Ways: How Charter Schools Try to Obtain the Funding of Public Schools and the Autonomy of Private Schools.  
    • Dr. Jonathan Plucker: Exploring the Frontiers: The Role of Creativity and Innovation in Education and Society.  Dr. James Kaufman and Dr. Ron Beghetto will be on this panel discussion.
    • Dr. Sally Reis: Lessons Learned from 30 Years of Research About Academically Talented Students.
    • Dr. Joseph Renzulli: Addressing the Achievement Gap from the Other End of The Instructional Pipeline: Using a Strength Based Rather Than Deficit Based Approach to Learning.
    • Dr. George Sugai: What do School Climate, Culture, and Behavior have to do with Academic Achievement?
    • Dr. Suzanne Wilson: The Good Teacher?  Are Current Policies and Practices Changing the Nature of Teaching in U.S. Schools?  A conversation between Suzanne Wilson, Dorothea Anagnostopoulus, Morgaen Donaldson, Rachael Gabriel, and Sarah Woulfin. 

     This event is free and is part of UConn’s Huskies Forever Weekend (Alumni Weekend).
