    Introduction to Scholarly Publishing: Focus on STEM

    Designed for early career researchers, this workshop provides introductory information on scholarly publishing in STEM areas. Topics include, but are not limited to:  writing and submitting manuscripts, how to get published in research journals, successful grant writing, how to review a manuscript, how to get your paper noticed, impact factors and bibliometrics, as well as authors’ rights and responsibilities. Following an overview presentation, attendees will have ample time to ask questions. All attendees will receive a book about charting a successful research career and a booklet on academic publishing.

    Faculty Panelists: John N. Ivan, Ph.D., P.E. Professor and Associate Head, Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Connecticut
