  • 10/17 Long River Review Reading Series Tomorrow Night

    Come join us for the Long River Review Reading Series. This first reading will feature poets Kate Monica and Sean Forbes, and fiction writer Tennessee Jones. 7 PM at the UConn Co-op, Storrs Center. Co-sponsored with the UConn Co-op. 

    Kate Monica is a 20 year-old English major at the University of Connecticut. She has won the Collins Literary Prize and was the the second-place winner of the University's 2014 Wallace Stevens Poetry Award. Her poetry has been featured in The Long River Review, Holey Scripture Magazine, and Orchid Children.

     Tennessee Jones is the author of the Lambda Literary Award nominated collection Deliver Me From Nowhere, a “cover” of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska. He is the recipient of awards from the Jacob K. Javits Foundation, the Christopher Isherwood Foundation and Hunter College, where he received his MFA in Fiction in 2010. He was also the George Bennett Fellow (Writer in Residence) at Philips Exeter Academy 2010-11, and the Philip Roth Writer in Residence at Bucknell University (2013). He grew up in the hollers of Appalachia and currently lives in Brooklyn.

     Sean Frederick Forbes is an adjunct professor of English and the Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Connecticut. His poems have been published in Chagrin River Review, Sargasso, A Journal of Caribbean Literature, Language, and Culture, Crab Orchard Review, Long River Review, and Midwest Quarterly. Providencia is his first book of poetry.
