Important University-Wide Announcements

  • Avery Point Campus Director Search

    To the University Community,

We are pleased to announce a national search for a new Director for the Avery Point campus. We have appointed an advisory search committee to identify an outstanding leader to provide executive direction for the campus and to assure we continue to fulfill the campus’s commitment to high quality research, educational, and outreach programs.

Our historic waterfront campus hosts important professional, graduate, and undergraduate programs and is home to the Department of Marine Sciences. The campus has undergone a major transformation in the past several years, and more exciting capital projects are already in progress. The success of the campus depends on positive and productive engagement with students, faculty, staff, alumni, campus supporters, and the community served by UConn Avery Point. To lead this important set of activities, we seek a leader with deep executive administrative expertise, excellent communication skills, experience building effective collaborative teams, and clear commitment to excellence.

The search committee will be chaired by Peter Diplock, Assistant Vice Provost for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The members of the committee are:

Pamela Bedore, Assistant Professor, Department of English
Angela Brightly, Senior Associate Campus Director – Waterbury
Aaron Collins, Student Support Services Coordinator – Avery Point
Sylvain De Guise, Associate Professor, Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science & Director
      Sea Grant College Program
    Lauren DiGrazia, University Registrar
James Edson, Professor and Head, Department of Marine Sciences
Kris Perry, Director, Office of Veterans Affairs and Military Programs
Rafael Perez, Undergraduate student - Avery Point

The search for a new campus director will begin immediately and we expect to have finalists visit the Storrs and Avery Point campuses before the end of the fall semester. Candidates will meet with various groups and conduct public forums to discuss their approach to leading the Avery Point campus. Schedules of the visits and opportunities for you to participate and provide feedback will be announced through the Daily Digest.

A position announcement and information about how to apply will be available soon on the Human Resources web site at www.jobs.uconn.edu under “Executive Openings.” Meanwhile, for information about the search, or to nominate candidates, please contact Peter Diplock at 860-486-2915 / peter.diplock@uconn.edu or Connie Boyd at 860-486-0636 / connie.boyd@uconn.edu.
