  • 9/21 People's Climate March in NYC - Sunday, Sept. 21

Join the (Eco)Husky convoy!  UConn is partnering with the Sierra Club to provide discounted, chartered bus transportation, for students, faculty and staff to participate in the People's Climate March on Sunday, September 21st in New York City. The March is being held concurrent with the start of the United Nations’ International Climate Summit.  It is co-sponsored by more than 850 organizations and will be attended by tens of thousands of people.  The purpose is to send a strong message to the world’s political leaders about the urgent need for action to reduce greenhouse gases in order to prevent the catastrophic environmental, economic and public health consequences of global warming.

It may be years, or even decades, before such a crucial climate summit will happen again in this part of the world, just a few hours from UConn’s campus!  It will be a unique opportunity to let your voice (and UConn’s collective voice) be heard.  If there is sufficient interest, we are planning to dedicate one bus to faculty, staff and Mansfield residents, and the remainder to UConn students. We’re expecting a good turnout from the Sierra Club’s top-ranked “Cool School” in 2013, so register today to reserve your seat on the bus.

Bus tickets for faculty and staff (round trip) will cost $29.48 per person ($24.20 per person for students). The buses will depart from UConn’s main campus in Storrs at approximately 7:30am and leave NYC at 6pm.
