  • 7/29 Visit UConn's own Student Run Sustainable Farm

    Come visit us!

We are Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF), and we're offering free Tuesday Tours just for you! Tours last from 3 until 8pm. We will guide you on tours of the fields and greenhouses loaded with fresh sustainably grown vegetables and herbs. We will introduce you to the flock of friendly hens and discuss the Edible Forest Garden Permaculture project. You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the beautiful scenic Willimantic River valley!

SVSF is home to 12 students this summer who are growing an amazing variety of vegetables and herbs served at Chuck and Augie’s restaurant in the Student Union, some catered events, and at select dining halls. The produce is also for sale at the Farm Fresh Market on Fairfield Way near the Student Union on Thursdays from 11:30 to 1:30.

Would you like to roll up your sleeves and get a little dirty? Would you like to learn by doing while helping as a volunteer on the farm? Then join us on Tuesday for some hands-on experiential farming. No previous experience necessary! All tools and equipment are provided. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions and get ready to play in the dirt!

Spring Valley Student Farm is collaboration with Dining Services, Residential Life, EcoHouse as part of First Year Programs and Learning Communities, and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.  The farm is located at 104 Spring Manor Road, Mansfield, CT, 06268 just off Route 32 north of the Route 44 intersection. Turn at the big blue UConn Spring Manor Farm sign. GPS address is 1327 Stafford Road, Storrs Mansfield, 06268. For more information or detailed directions please contact the farm at ecohouse.svf@gmail.com for more details.

We look forward to seeing you at tomorrow’s Spring Valley Student Farm Tuesday Tour!
