Dr. Cobb will speak about his research and most recent book, "The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama & the Paradox of Progress.
Dr. William Jelani Cobb is an acclaimed author, educator and social commentator. He is the author of several books including The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama & the Paradox of Progress, To the Break of Dawn: A Freestyle on the Hip Hop Aesthetic, and The Devil & Dave Chappelle and Other Essays. His articles and essays have appeared in The New Yorker,
The Daily Beast, The Washington Post, Essence, Vibe, The Progressive, and TheRoot.com. He has been a featured commentator on MSNBC, National Public Radio, CNN, AI-Jazeera, CBS News and a number of other national broadcast outlets. Dr. Cobb was selected as part of the Root 100 in 2013- a listing of influential African American thinkers, artists, entrepreneurs and leaders.
