  • BioSupply Operation During the Research Ramp Up

    In accordance with the University of Connecticut’s guidance for the research ramp up process during/after the coronavirus pandemic, starting on May 20th, the BioSupply Facility will resume limited operations.  Please see below for details.
     
    1. Hours and Contact: 
    While the facility will be open daily, all services will be rendered by appointment only, and it will be essential that all visitors wear appropriate face masks in accordance with university policy. To ensure everyone's safety "walk-ins" will be strictly prohibited. The facility may be contacted at biosupply@uconn.edu.
     
    2. Stockroom Purchase: 
    The stockroom store remains closed to general walk-ins. That said, stockroom items can be purchased through e-mail communications.  Order pick-up times will be made by appointment only. 
     
    3. Package Delivery:
    Packages addressed to labs in TLS, Bio/Physics, and Pharm/Bio will once again be delivered to the BioSupply stockroom (TLS173) starting on May 20th. You will be notified by email when your lab receives a package and you will be asked to make an appointment to pick up your items from the stockroom. 
     
    4. Special Orders: 
    Special orders through the BioSupply Facility’s Supply Center Program will be processed twice per week. Please be aware of the uncertainty of product availability and shipping times due to the pandemic. You will need to pick up your orders by making an appointment with us. 
     
    5. Dry-Ice and Lab Coat Cleaning:
    These two services (which require 3rd party service providers) are presently suspended, however we are working to have them resume shortly.
     
    6. Purchase Limits for Certain Items:
    Gloves are limited will be limited to one box each size per KFS account per week.
    Ethanol and 2-propanol will be limited to one unit per KFS account per week.
     
    7. PPE and cleaning/disinfecting supplies:
    Though the BioSupply Facility is working to procure PPE and cleaning/disinfecting supplies, most of these items remain on back-order and are not available from our store.  It is our understanding that the institution is working on a mechanism to provide these items centrally.
