    UConn Spring Valley Student Farm – Monarch Butterflies and Milkweed Presentation

    Student led tours run continuously from 3:00-8:00 PM

    What is special about Monarch butterflies and milkweed? Come to UConn Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) to learn about this magnificent butterfly species and how you can help them! Get tips on how to attract them to your yard. Hint: the answer involves a special plant! If you are lucky you will get to see some butterflies in action.

    The special monarch butterfly presentation at SVSF on Tuesday, July 16 at 5:00 & 7:00 PM is suitable for all ages. For more information please contact SVSF Farm Manager Julia.Cartabiano@uconn.edu.

    Join us anytime Tuesday from 3:00-8:00! UConn students, living and working at SVSF, will lead guided tours of the fields, greenhouses and Edible Forest Garden. You can learn about many on-going sustainability projects including Solar Thermal greenhouse and Solar PV. The tours are open to all.

    Feel free to join us any Tuesday from 3-8 PM through August 20, 2019 for some hands-on learning with plants and soil.  No previous experience necessary! We provide the tools, techniques and opportunity to explore the fascinating world of healthy food production. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.

    SVSF produce is served at Bistro on Union Street (August-May) and One Plate Two Plates in the Student Union and at select dining halls. Our produce is available for purchase at the Farm Fresh Market, located in front of UConn Homer Babbidge Library, every Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30 May through September.

    Spring Valley Student Farm is collaboration with Dining Services, Residential Life, College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, EcoHouse as part of First Year Programs and Learning Communities, and Office of Environmental Policy.
