  • 8/17 Mindfulness at Work Course: Orientation

    Orientation (Information) sessions for the course, Mindfulness for Work-Related Stress are offered at noon on Friday, this week and next. Choose to attend one Orientation session to register for the course. The first Orientation is August 17th, Noon to 1:00 pm, and the second is Friday, August 24th at the Alumni Center. Please use the email below to reserve a space.

    During Orientation, participants will have an opportunity to learn about and register for the weekly meetings of Mindfulness for Work Stress at Noon on Fridays. The course provides a first-hand introduction to 9 different mindfulness practices involving breathing, gentle body movements, and methods for incorporating mindfulness practices into everyday life and work. Thousands of people report that the course helped to reduce symptoms such as chronic pain, headache, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, over-eating, and negative thinking. Participants also report improvement in relationships, vitality, and a greater sense of well-being.

    This free 1-hour Orientation will acquaint you with the practice of mindfulness based upon the instructor’s 18 years of training from the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. You will learn how this evidence-based practice has become an accepted part of mainstream Medicine and discover how it can positively affect the quality of your everyday life by building emotional intelligence, boosting happiness, increasing engagement, reducing anxiety, increasing the ability to focus, and helping people to make better choices under stressful work conditions.
