    Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing Call for Nominations

    The Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing program was originally developed by the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut to be a collaborative effort to celebrate outstanding nurses and elevate the nursing profession. The goals of the program are to encourage retention, inspire future nurses, focus public attention and recognize the breadth and scope of nursing practice at the local level.

    We are pleased to announce that UConn Health will be an official sponsor of the Hartford regional event, which will take place on May 11, 2017 at the Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford CT.

    Completed nomination forms (see below or on the nursing website at http://nursing.uchc.edu/nightingale_awards/nomination_form/index.aspx) must be submitted no later than Friday, February 24, 2017 at 12 N

    Nomination Narrative (required):

    Every nurse is caring and committed to his or her patients, students, co-workers, etc. In 500 words or less, please tell us what sets this nurse apart from other caring nurses. To be considered for the award, specific examples and information clearly relating to the Criteria for Nomination listed below must be cited.

    Criteria for Nomination:

    Exceptional nursing professionals may be nominated for recognition by their employers if they are involved in clinical practice, leadership, scholarship and/or education.

    It is critical that your nomination write-up include some of the suggested criteria:

    • Made a significant impact on patient care and/or the nursing profession
    • Gone “beyond the call” in a clearly illustrated scenario
    • Demonstrated excellence above what is normally expected
    • Shown commitment to the community served in a way that is significantly above the norm
    • Achieved a life-long legacy in a particular arena
