Title: Computational oncology: is it data-driven or knowledge driven?
Abstract: While molecular and phenotypic data about tumors and models are accumulating at an ever-increasing pace, the bottleneck in cancer research has shifted from data acquisition to computational analysis. What is missing to translate our research into clinical benefit for the patient? Should we focus on knowledge-driven or data-driven approaches? My talk will give examples of both, in particular for single cell analysis, knowledge formalization and network modeling. Applications will concern among others: Ewing sarcoma, colon carcinoma, and metastasis formation.
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
