    Biomedical Engineering Discovery Saturday Program

Is your child between the ages of 13 and 16? Is your child interested in science, technology, engineering and/or math (STEM)? Does your child enjoy building things and working with his or her hands? Are you interested in taking your child’s budding curiosity to the next level? If yes, then your child can participate in a Biomedical Engineering (BME) Discovery Program on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UConn Health in Farmington (drop off/pickup at Main Building Academic Entrance). The topic for this session is: Building a Prosthetic Leg.

Guided by current health professions students and educators, your child will explore career pathways into BME and other health professions, learn about BME application in health care, and engage in a hands-on exploration of engineering by designing and constructing a prosthetic leg from common materials. The cost of attendance is $59 and each student will be provided with a light breakfast snack, lunch and LEGO® bricks to build a miniature prosthesis to take home.

Space is limited so please register ASAP at https://publichealthuconn.wufoo.com/forms/biomedical-engineering-discovery-prgm-6218/. This program is sponsored by the Connecticut Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Network at UConn Health. More information is available at http://www.publichealth.uconn.edu/bme_app.html
