Additional UConn Health Information

  • May is Better Hearing and Speech Month

Speech Language Pathologists work to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing in children and adults. They also provide augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum or progressive neurological disorders.  In addition, Speech Language Pathologists work with people who may not have a disorder, but want to learn how to communicate more effectively, such as work accent modification or other forms of communication enhancement.

The Department of Rehabilitation Services offers Speech Language Pathology services both to acute care patients in the Connecticut and University Towers as well as to outpatients in the Outpatient Pavilion, 3 East.

We thank our Speech Language Pathologists for being such dedicated and valuable employees.
