  • Open Enrollment for Continuing Graduate Assistants

Welcome to Open Enrollment 2018 for Continuing Graduate Assistants and Postdoctoral Trainees

Open Enrollment is the time of year when continuing Graduate Assistants and Postdoctoral Trainees are able to make changes to their existing medical and dental plan elections, including making changes for their eligible dependents, without a qualifying life event. Elections or changes made during Open Enrollment must be submitted by May 15, 2018, and will become effective September 1, 2018. Any member adding a dependent to insurance is also required to provide proof of the relationship, such as a marriage certificate for a spouse or a long form birth certificate for a child.

This is the only opportunity for Graduate Assistants and Postdoctoral Trainees to change their current health insurance enrollment elections for the 2018-2019 academic year (i.e. add/drop medical or dental, add/remove dependents, etc.).

If you are a GA/Post-Doc and do not wish to make any changes to your current enrollment, you do not have to take action; you will automatically be continued with your current selections.

Please note: There will not be an opportunity to make changes to your insurance elections after May 15, 2018, without a verified qualifying life event.  If you experience a qualifying life event (i.e. marriage, birth of child, divorce, loss of coverage) outside of the open enrollment period, you have 31 days following the event to provide UConn Health with the appropriate documentation (loss of coverage letter, marriage certificate, birth certificate).

Please send an email to Dan Lis at DLis@uchc.edu if you are a GA and wish to make adjustments to your current health insurance plans, and he will refer you to the appropriate Human Resources representative to move forward with your changes. Please do not contact HR at Storrs; your enrollment and changes are processed by UConn Health.
