    Linda Sarsour – Co-organizer of the 2017 Women’s March on Washington

    Linda Sarsour is a racial justice and civil rights activist and one of the four co-organizers of the January 21, 2017 Women’s March on Washington. She is the former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York and is known for her intersectional coalition work and building bridges across issues, racial, ethnic and faith communities.  Ms. Sarsour speaks out in favor of non-violence, democracy, solidarity and human rights.  She has received numerous awards and honors including “Champion of Change” by the White House in 2012, YWCA USA’s Women of Distinction Award for Advocacy and Civic Engagement, and was designated by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of 2017 and named by Fortune magazine as one of the world’s 50 greatest leaders in 2017.

    This event is open to the University community and will require a valid UConn ID.

    Co-sponsored with the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, Women’s, Gender and Sexualities Studies, the Dodd Center, the Humanities Institute and the Human Rights Institute.
