    Alevism and State Relationships in Turkey: Policies and Practices

     Dilsa Deniz is a socio-cultural Kurdish anthropologist and visiting scholar at UConn since June 2017. She was dismissed from her position in Turkey, in February 2016 after signing a peace petition. Her research focuses on the cultural and religious practices of Alevism in Kurdish communities, particularly in the city of Dersim, an ancient urban center for Kurdish Alevism in Anatolia.
