  • Pre-Medical/Dental Office Friendly Reminders

Are you interested in becoming a doctor (MD, DO), a dentist, or a physician assistant? Which undergraduate courses and medically-related experiences should you be pursuing while on the pre-med or pre-dental track? How does the professional school application process work?

The UConn Pre-Medical/Dental Office is here to help pre-health professional undergraduate students and alumni with all of the above questions and more. We offer advising and workshops throughout the year and composite letters for qualified students each application cycle. Here are a  few helpful pointers and reminders about our procedures:

    1.       Make sure you’re subscribed to our listserv (if not, please email premed_predental@uconn.edu from your UConn email account and request to be added) to take full advantage of the valuable information and opportunities that we distribute.

    2.       First and second-year students should join a group advising session (https://premed.uconn.edu/advising-appointments/) for an introduction to the pre-health professional tracks and to have questions about coursework, clinical experience, etc. answered. Third-year students/current applicants should check the same page for workshops related to the application cycle.

    3.       If you have individualized questions unique to your situation, you can request a one-on-one appointment with an advisor. Pre-med/PA students should fill out an appointment request form (https://premed.uconn.edu/forms/). Pre-dental students should make an appointment through advapp.uconn.edu with Dr. Thomas Abbott (look under the “Pre-Professional” heading).

Our website (https://premed.uconn.edu/) also contains a wealth of information, including our office’s composite letter timelines each cycle (https://premed.uconn.edu/medical-timelines/). If you cannot find an answer to your question on the website, please email us at premed_predental@uconn.edu. Thanks, and we look forward to working with you!
