  • Join the Artists for World Peace Club

Are you interested in joining a new club on campus that will help combine the love for arts and culturalism with service and public health? The Artist for World Peace Club at UConn is now looking for new members and we would love to have you! This club is working with the AFWP organization, that is based out of Middletown, CT. Over the past 15 years, AFWP, which was founded on the idea that even a group of artists can change the world, has been helping to make the world a better place. Their international work has focused on provided free medical clinics to communities in need, such as eye, dental, and a women’s clinic to come! They have built an orphanage and health center in Tanzania, and have worked in other countries such as India, South america, and the US. Our next big projects are traveling to the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota to put on a free eye clinic for the 25000 people who live on the reservation in June of 2018, putting on another free eye clinic for the Eastern Pequot Reservation in September of 2018, and then a women’s health clinic, which will include gynecological surgeries and procedures, in Tanzania during the summer of 2019. Therefore, our club needs help to plan, coordinate, and execute these exciting projects. We need help to plan the fundraisers (most of our fundraisers are art-based), advertising the club and our projects/fundraisers, planning the logistics of the trips, documenting our progress here at UConn through pictures and videos, planning and executing service projects at the site (such as building a deck on the community center, building a playground, etc….), and to potentially travel with us on these trips!! If you are interested, please fill out the form below and we will be in contact with you.
