  • 11/29 A Writing Life: Creative Writing Panel and Lunch

    Curious about being a poet?

Are you that STEM major with a folder of half-written stories?

Interested in UConn Creative Writing, getting an MFA, jobs in publishing or teaching, or just want lunch and a place to relax?

Come to UConn Creative Writing's annual panel "A Writing Life" on Wednesday, November 29 at 12:00 pm in the Stern Lounge (Austin 217) - lunch and insights will be served.

We'll speak to publishing, fellowships and residencies, pros and cons of pursuing advanced degrees such as MFAs and PhDs, careers in publishing and teaching, pursuing creative writing while working in other fields, and just generally living a life that nurtures our art.

Panelists include current UConn PhD candidates poets and translators Matthew Shelton, Erin Lynn, and Erick Pillar; UConn Creative Writing faculty, fiction writer, and translator Ellen Litman; Director of UConn Creative Writing, poet, and essayist Dr. Sean Forbes; UConn alumna and editor at Oxford University Press Alyssa Palazzo, and surprise guests TBA!

Engineer, urban environmentalist, writer and PhD candidate Kerry Carnahan will moderate.
