Seeking inter-professional students for intervention with adult persons returning to the community from jails and prisons
Are you a UCONN student who wants to make a difference in the lives of others as you learn? This opportunity may interest you.
We are seeking additional graduate and undergraduate students who are interested in learning to provide a two-pronged intervention to teach self-care health management strategies to a re-entry population housed in Connecticut half-way house residences. We have had a wonderful response from the community and are in need of additional assistance from the UCONN community.
Time requirement: Currently, we are in the residences Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7-10pm. Students receive extensive training before they enter the community setting and continuous supervision from faculty for provision of this individual and group intervention.
Opportunities are available for learning community-based research processes for course credit, service learning, research internships, co-publishing and co-presentations. Students with serious intent to commit to the project are welcomed from any discipline. Connecticut Department of Correction clearances are required. You do need transportation- we go into Hartford, Bloomfield and Windham.
