As datasets become larger and more complex, the challenge of creating meaningful and reproducible visualizations has increased. The powerful, open source R programing language is an increasingly popular tool for a wide variety of data tasks from data management to statistical analyses and visualizations. However the learning curve for R can be steep. MARS is happy to announce that we will hold a 2 day workshop from 9-5 January 12 and 13 introducing participants to R with a focus on visualizations. This workshop is open to all, no prior command line experience is assumed. Cost for UConn participants is $300, non-UConn $475. This workshop will be held on the Storrs campus.
Topics covered will include:
-Beginning with R
-Reproducible research
-Data management/manipulation
-Basic visualizations (box plots, bar graphs, scatter plots)
-Advanced visualizations by vote of participants (possibilities include heatmaps, complex scatter and vector plots, phylogenetic trees)
