  • Yoga and Low Back Pain- Human Subjects Requested

    We are seeking volunteers to be part of a paid chronic low back pain

    study. This research is being done at the School of Nursing at UConn

    Storrs and at the UConn Health Center and is evaluating a movement-

    based therapy for chronic low back pain and the role of emotions,

    strength, flexibility and gene expression on low back pain outcomes.

    Participation will include completing questionnaires about your pain,

    undergoing a sensory assessment and having your blood drawn. You

    may be randomized to a 12-session movement-based therapy group

    between November and January

    If you are between the ages of 18-75 years, have experienced low back

    pain for atleast 3 out of the last 6 months and do not have a specific

    cause of back pain, such as a herniated disc or trauma, you may be

    eligible to participate.

    You will not be eligible if you have: Other conditions that cause pain;

    neurological deficits such as weakness; Are pregnant or within 3-

    months post-partum and had previous spinal surgery
