  • Hindu Student Council: Coming Soon to UConn

A UConn branch of the National Hindu Student Council Organization will be starting next semester and the students involved in starting this new student organization need some help getting it off the ground. They are currently looking for qualified and interested people to be apart of the e-board and spreading the word about the organization.

If you are interested in an e-board position, simply in helping out, or being a member, please email Mahika at: mahika.jhangiani@uconn.edu

Hindu Students Council (HSC) is the largest Hindu youth organization in North America and an international forum providing opportunities to learn about Hindu heritage and culture. It has over 50 chapters across various university campuses and cities. Over 130,000 students of diverse Hindu and non-Hindu backgrounds have participated in HSC activities and events since its inception.

HSC’s activities, among many things, include the following:

    • On-campus meetings, discussions, etc.
    • Camps, spiritual retreats, conferences, seminars
    • Advocacy of issues impacting Hindus
    • Seva (service) projects and activities
    • Celebration of festivals
    • Charitable activities and fundraisers
    • Interfaith forums
    • Publication and distribution of literature related to Hindu heritage, practices and traditions

HSC also collaborates with various Hindu and non-Hindu campus and community organizations that share common interests and vision. It is a non-denominational, non-sectarian organization that accepts everyone interested in learning about Hindu heritage, spirituality and culture, irrespective of religious background, ethnicity, nationality, social status, sexual orientation, etc. HSC aims to promote diversity and plurality on thought and ideals on campuses as well as in the general society.
