  • Interested in Politics, Media, & Public Speaking?

    Come to UConn's 3rd Annual Public Speaking Competition hosted by the UConn Communication Society!

    Watch as your peers put their public speaking skills to the test as they tackle this year's theme of

    the role of mass media in the portrayal of current events and how technology has changed the way we

    receive and process “news.” Contestants will compete live on stage with a prepared speech, question and answer, and improptu! 

    The audience will have a chance to win giveaways and refreshments will be served!!!!

    When: Monday, April 4th 6-8 p.m.

    Where: Student Union Theatre

    Who/What: The contest will feature 5 undergraduate contestants, 3 judges, 2 hosts, a live audience, and over $400 in prizes!

    This year's judges include: Bob Pasquella (UConn alumni and North American Sales Director of LBP Manufactoring), David Kiner (CT State Representative for East Windsor & Enfield), and Jenn Bernstein (Emmy award winning anchor & political reporter for Fox 61 in Hartford).
