The exhibition will be on view through May 22.
The Guerrilla Girls have created posters, stickers, printed materials, and actions that expose sexism and racism in politics, the art world, film and the culture at large. They call themselves "the conscience of culture," and "feminist counterparts to the mostly male tradition of anonymous do-gooders like Robin Hood, Batman, and the Lone Ranger."
The Benton exhibition comprises a collection of posters the museum recently acquired, entitled Guerrilla Girls Portfolio Compleat (1985–2012). Through a mixture of comedy, facts, and shock, these works shed light on the group’s revolutionary and evolving tactics that have reinforced their efforts to combat racism and sexism in the arts, positively affect art herstory, and redefine the F-word: Feminism.
