    The UConn Foundation and the School of Business are seeking a talented, dynamic, organized individual to work directly with the team organizing the 3rd Geno Auriemma UConn Leadership Conference. 

    The Geno Auriemma UConn Leadership Conference is a professional conference for both accomplished and aspiring leaders to share best practices in an intimate high-end setting designed for interaction, learning, and sharing.  Hosted by the UConn School of Business in partnership with UConn Women’s Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma, the event will be held October 26-27, 2016 at the Mohegan Sun Convention Center.

    Position description:  This individual will work closely with members of the committee to assist in the marketing and communication of the conference through web site and social media updates, assist in the coordination of the speakers, monitor registrations, communicate with attendees, answer questions, and provide administrative and logistical support for the conference.  Post-conference activities include assisting in attendee follow-up and survey distribution and analysis.

    Learning experiences: This is a very unique opportunity.  The committee will assist the candidate in mentoring, as well as the potential for direct interaction with high-profile speakers.  We may be able to create additional opportunities specific to the goals of the candidate.

    Location: The majority of the internship will be in Storrs, except for the days of the conference, which is being held at Mohegan Sun. All business expenses for the intern will be covered while on-site at the conference.

    Requirements:           

    •  10-20 hours per week;

    •  The internship begins in early February and lasts until December 2016;

    •  Work hours are somewhat flexible; it will vary by week and time of year  

        in keeping with a conference timeline.

    Note: The candidate must be available the evening of October 25 and all day on October 26 and 27.  Conference organizers will assist the intern on communicating with professors.

     

    Qualifications:

    •  Strong attention to detail;

    •  Professional manner, positive attitude and willingness to learn;

    •  Competency with Microsoft Office suite, social media and web editing software;

    •  Interest in event management, marketing, and communications;

    •  Ability to work independently and function in a small team environment;

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    •  Junior or Graduate Student

    •  Prior related experience.
