A study in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies department under Dr. Barbara Gurr seeks to gain a greater understanding of the experiences of transgender and gender nonconforming students on the University of Connecticut Storrs campus.
With the creation of new gender free housing in East Campus, concerns around gender and housing are now being pushed, literally, to the center of campus. However, the experiences of transgender and gender nonconforming students extend past housing situations. Through interviews with students, an online survey, and examination of campus policy and practice, this study listens to students on campus to gain a bigger picture.
