Volunteer Opportunities

  • Interested in Tutoring at a Prison?

The Petey Greene program here at UConn, formerly known as Brooklyn Collabrative, is looking for tutors for the Fall 2015 semester. The Petey Greene program at UConn provides  UConn students with the opportunity to tutor people incarcerated at the Brooklyn Connecticut Correctional Facility. UConn volunteers tutor the students on a variety of subjects to prepare them for their GED testing. Being a tutor in the prison, students are able to dispel common misbeliefs and stereotypes they may hold about prison population. Volunteers also help students gain the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to have a safe, successful life.
