The day you got your college acceptance notice was probably one of the greatest days of your life. Chances are someone along the way made a difference that helped you get there. Can you imagine having that impact on someone else?
You can make a difference in the life of a low-income high school student who has that dream—just like you did—of going to college. If you have the enthusiasm to work with committed, under-served students, you can make a positive impact by helping to increase SAT scores, providing advice about the college application process and boosting confidence about attending college. Week by week, you will see the impact of your help and support as your students’ SAT scores and enthusiasm for college increase.
Requirements:
· Commit to Coaching one night a week, three hours per night for 9 weeks over the summer, as well as one hour of prep time per week
· Scored above a 600 on the SAT subject you are teaching
· Be willing to serve as a role model and guide for high school students (work with approximately 5 students in your group)
· Have a genuine interest in working with and teaching high school students
· ALL majors are considered!
Training & Curriculum:
· Let's Get Ready will provide a detailed curriculum and train you to 1) teach the math or critical reading/writing section of the SAT; and 2) guide students through the complexity of the college admissions process
It is by no means a requirement, but if you are a former Let’s Get Ready student, Let's Get Ready encourages you to “pay it forward” and coach students like yourself.
