Volunteers are needed to participate in a research study titled “Talker-specificity in spoken
language processing.” The purpose of this study is to examine how listeners adjust to talker
difference in speech production.
Adults (18-35 years of age) who have a history of reading disorders (e.g., dyslexia) or who
have experienced difficulty in reading are invited to participate. The research takes place in
1-2 sessions approximately 60 minutes long at the UConn Laboratory for Spoken Language
Processing on the Storrs campus. Participants will listen to speech sounds or read words on a
screen and will be asked to indicate what they hear or see.
Participants will receive monetary compensation for participation and will also be provided with
scores on standardized language tests if requested.
