  • 1/22 Unified Theater Planning Meeting

Unified Theater will have its first meeting for the Spring 2015 semester tomorrow (Thursday, January 22nd) in room 316 in the Student Union at 8PM. We have finally moved from the Chemistry building to a more central location, so we're very excited!

Unified Theater at UConn is one of the first college organizations of its kind. We are a part of a national organization where people with and without disabilities work together to create their own original piece of theater, incorporating their own songs, dances, scenes, sets, and ideas. Every voice is heard. Everyone is included. We would love for you to join us in our mission to bring true inclusion to UConn!

The club will be working with E. O. Smith High School's S.T.A.A.R. program this semester and planning needs to get underway very quickly in order to ensure that enough volunteers are available to work with the students from 12-2 on Wednesdays at Sprague Hall. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at unifiedtheateruconn@gmail.com to get a participant intake form.

The club will also be looking to come up with a theme for the show to give students something to work off of. So far, we have thought of a fairy tale theme incorporating songs from "Into the Woods", "Frozen", and "Tangled" and a protest theme incorporating songs from the 1960s. We would love to hear more input on the kind of production we should put on!

Throughout the rest of the semester, our meetings will continue to be held on Thursdays at 8 in SU 316. If you can't catch us this week, try us out later in the year, or come see us at the Involvement Fair on January 28th in Gampel Pavilion!
