    The William Benton Museum of Art invites you to a PREVIEW PARTY
    Thursday, January 22, 4:30 to 7 pm
    in celebration of the new Spring exhibitions:
    SWEET SENSATIONS: Inspired by the UConn Reads book The Omnivore's Dilemma
    and

    IN THE PAINT: Basketball in Contemporary Art

    Visit with Jonathan the Husky and the UConn Pep Band. Enjoy a ribbon cutting by former men’s coach Jim Calhoun, a jazz band performance, and a silent auction of basketballs signed by the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Appetizers and cash bar. FREE ADMISSION.

    IN THE PAINT celebrates the sport of basketball and UConn’s men’s and women’s national championship teams while it explores the complexities of the game in art. 

    The exhibition also includes art created by the UConn players, memorabilia, trophies, photographs, and art by Janet Biggs, the Brothers Costacos, Awol Erizku, Ewok One 5MPH, Dario Escobar, Robert Indiana, Joe Iurato, Charles Johnstone, Billi Kid, Andrew Kuo, Sharon Lockhart, Simon Norfolk, Daniel Petraitis, Paul Pfeiffer, Shiro, Lucien Smith, and Hank Willis Thomas.

    SWEET SENSATIONS presents works portraying sinfully seductive foods juxtaposed with excerpts from The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Featured artists include Peter Anton, Gina Beavers, Desire Obtain Cherish, Rachel Lee Hovnanian, Margaret Morrison, and Joe Nanashe. The exhibition is funded in part by UConn Reads.

    Both exhibitions will be on view from January 23 through March 29, 2015.
    Museum hours: Tuesday through Friday 10 to 4:30 / Saturday and Sunday 1 to 4:30.
