Privilege is often treated as taboo. People often feel guilty about their advantages and therefore avoid discussions about privilege. The success of social justice movements is largely dependent on the recognition of the advantages of one group, that all groups should enjoy. #TweetYourPrivilege is an event that hopes to promote the recognition of privilege in a non-threatening setting, as well as encourage further discussions around what privilege is and how it impacts society.
On Friday, November 14th, stop by our table in the Union from 10 am - 5 pm and tweet an example of how you are privileged @TFAUCONN with #TweetYourPrivilege in order to enter the raffle for a $100 Amazon Gift Card. Look out for pictures of student leaders at UConn who have chosen to openly acknowledge their privilege being dispersed this week .
