A performance by Ana Craciun, inspired by the true story of Gladys Burr, a woman who spent 42 years of her life inside the Mansfield Training School, in spite of her sanity. While institutionalized, Gladys struggled to prove her unjust confinement and reclaim her right to a normal life. Through the use of expressive movement and elements of puppetry, Ana brings to the stage her vision of the inner world of Gladys' confinement.

The 15-minute performance will be accompanied by a photo exhibit of James Mickley and Scot Terban. They both have been interested in the decay of the abandoned buildings of the institution and have chosen to make it the subject of their work.

This project is supported by the UConn Puppet Arts Program, the UConn Dramatic Arts Department, and the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry.
