UConn Jazz Combos will be performing tonight from 7 to 9pm in the Co-Op Bookstore in Storrs Center. Jazz Combos is one of UConn’s three jazz ensemble groups, along with The Jazz Lab Band and The UConn Jazz Ensemble. Students are assigned to combos and work both with each other and faculty members to hone their improvisational jazz skill and small-group ensemble jazz playing. The combos are generally organized by theme, focusing on the repertoire of a specific composer or genre. Tonight’s performance will showcase the student musicians’ improvisational talent as they create music “in the moment.”
The concert is directed by Gregg August, Earl MacDonald, and John Mastroianni. The concert begins at 7pm at the Co-Op Bookstore located at One Royce Circle, 101 Storrs Center.
