  • 11/6 Open Student Leader Positions, Apply Now

UConn's Community Outreach Office (CO) would like to alert you about a wonderful on-campus leadership opportunity open to undergrads. There are EIGHT open student leader positions in the areas of Youth Development and Education-Children and Special Projects for the Spring semester.  Special Projects includes such events as Special Olympics, Give and Go, and Community Service Days. Youth Development and Education-Children includes mentoring and tutoring programs for academic and personal development.  Programs in this area include Big Brothers Big Sisters and 4-H Vernon.  All Community Outreach programs are student-run, which allows students a great opportunity to develop their leadership skills, and gain administrative and supervision experience all focused on community service!

Student Leaders on average commit 10-15 hours per week toward developing their program.  Additional commitments include bi-weekly meetings with staff and coordinators as well as monthly attendance at CO trainings. Experience is not required, but we would prefer applicants who indicate a passion for community service.

As part of the application there is one short essay where applicants are asked to talk about a previous leadership experience that they’ve learned from, which can include high school or UConn leadership positions (Ex: high school club president or treasurer, etc.).  Three personal or professional references are also required as a part of the application, though written recommendations are not necessary.  Job descriptions are available on the provided link, as is the actual application.

Applications are due Thursday, November 6th at 12PM. Please use the following link to apply: http://communityoutreach.uconn.edu/open-student-leadership-positions/
