  • Human Subjects Requested: Psychology Survey Study

My name is Gabriel Byer-Alcorace, and I am a doctoral candidate in educational psychology at the University of Connecticut. I am working on my dissertation research which focuses on how individuals think about their past and their future and the relationship that has with their emotions and possible affective disorders.

I am conducting a study called The Role of Prospective and Retrospective Cognition in Adolescent Mental Health which will attempt to explore the relationship between how you think about your past and your potential future and how that might be related to the way you feel emotionally or any emotional disorders you might suffer from. This study will examine this via an online survey consisting of both thinking tasks and basic psychological assessments.

I am looking specifically for individuals who are either 18 or 19 years old and are attending UConn as a full time, part time, or non-matriculate student. The survey process will take place entirely online via Surveygizmo.com and is intended for individuals who can read and write fluent English.

As an added incentive there will be the opportunity for you to enter into a raffle drawing at the conclusion of the survey for a range of prizes which include(1) $100 iTunes gift card, (1) $50 iTunes gift card, (2) $25 iTunes gift cards. The survey entry page will request that you enter your name email and college/university, this information is to ensure a) we can contact you if you are a winner and b) to prevent individuals from entering multiple times and gaining an unfair advantage. This information will be collected via an external webpage portal which you will be redirected to automatically if you choose to participate and will be in no way connected to your survey submission or responses. The drawing will take place after data collection is complete, and prizes will be awarded in the order above to the first 4 tickets drawn.
