  • New Minor in Global Arts and Culture

The School of Fine Arts is delighted to announce the formation of a minor in Global Arts and Culture. This new course of study speaks to the universality of the arts as a product of the human experience and the interaction between the arts, social and political spheres in a cultural context leading to a broader understanding of people and their connection to their and the world’s communities.

Students in the interdisciplinary Global Arts and Culture Minor will be immersed in artistic and cultural experiences that speak to the various roles the arts play in self-and group expression, how they address social justice and/or injustice, and how they articulate a common good. Coursework, internship and study abroad experiences will include the study, performance and documentation of global creative and expressive acts. A critical byproduct of this experience will be the preparation of students for a global citizenship that will serve as a passport for living and traveling in the twenty-first century.
