    Center for Career Development (CCD)

    Coordinator for Outreach and Programming Graduate Assistant

    Fall 2014-Spring 2016

     

    Outreach and Programming Responsibilities:

    Coordinate CCD outreach program, which collaborates with various departments including but not limited to; First Year Programs, Senior Transition and Engagement Programs, Honors Program, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

    • Oversee the Presentation Request process by communicating with requesters, Career Services staff, Graduate Assistants, interns, and Peer Career Advisors (PCA), to appropriately schedule presentations
    • Keep up-to-date the department SharePoint event calendar
    • Co-supervise two Peer Career Advisors who will assist with outreach efforts
    • Write and edit career services information to be published in monthly Greek life newsletter and Senior Transition and Engagement newsletter and website
    • Manage the First Year Experience Résumé Writing Assignment by scheduling presentations,  assigning presenters, giving presentations, and facilitating group résumé review sessions
    • Manage the Senior Year Experience Résumé Writing Workshop by scheduling presentations, assigning presenters, and giving presentations
    • Oversee the building and distribution of CCD bags for presentations and the gathering of marketing material for large scale events
    • Collect and input presentation sign-in sheets data and calculate end of the semester statistics
    • Work closely with CCD  Marketing team to effectively highlight departmental resources including advertising through social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook

     

    CCD Responsibilities:

    • Attend staff and consultant meetings on a regular basis and contribute ideas and suggestions as appropriate
    • Critique résumés and cover letters
    • Serve as a practice interviewer specifically for more challenging interviews i.e. PhD or Master Students
    • Present standard and tailored programs and workshops for a variety of constituents

     

    Qualifications

    • Pursuing master’s degree or PhD at the University of Connecticut
    • Attention to detail
    • Skills in:  written/oral communication, public speaking, organization, and data management
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Ability to learn quickly
