  • 4/4 Community School of the Arts at Co-op Bookstore

Enjoy a community art show, hear a trumpet ensemble, view a world premiere puppet show, and browse the UConn Co-op’s new store all in support of UConn’s Community School of the Arts (CSA.) The Co-op Bookstore will donate 20% of the proceeds of all items purchased between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on April 4, to the UConn Foundation’s fund for the Community School of the Arts.

Drawings, paintings and pottery of CSA’s spring semester students will be on display throughout the bookstore on Friday, April 4th beginning at 5:00 p.m. There will be a ceremony of appreciation for CSA’s art faculty at 5:45 p.m. followed by a performance by CSA’s Trumpet Ensemble at 6:00 p.m. Explore the new store with its expanded offerings including children’s and young adult books, art supplies, and Husky clothing and accessories. UConn Dining Services’ Le Petit Marche Café will be offering a complimentary cookie alongside their regular menu of crepes, sandwiches, ice cream and yogurt.

And don’t miss the world premiere performance of Tito’s Dream by UConn Dramatic Arts Artist-in-Residence Carlos Garcia Estevez at 7:00 p.m. in the new Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry (BIMP). BIMP shares a performance space with the Co-op. Tickets are free, but space is limited. Call BIMP at 860-486-8580 for tickets or more information about the performance.

CSA offers group art and music classes and private instrumental or voice lessons for adults and children of all ages and levels of experience.
