  • 3/28 UConn Spring Valley Student Farm - Volunteer Time

Please join us on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 4-6 PM for our official Farm Welcome to Spring! Have fun planting seeds, harvesting fresh kale and spinach, working in our Edible Forest Garden and other wonderful spring projects. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions including warm water-repellant footwear.

Transportation is provided. The shuttle vans leave and return from east campus outside Whitney Dining Hall. Shuttle pickup is at 3:45 and returns at 6:15.

If you can’t join us this week keep in mind that Volunteer Time continues every Friday from 4-6 through Friday, May 2, 2014.

The farm is home to 12 students who are growing an amazing variety of vegetables and herbs served at Chuck and Augie’s restaurant in the Student Union and at select dining halls. The produce will also be for sale at the Farm Fresh Market on Fairfield Way on Thursdays from 11:30 to 2:00 beginning Thursday, May 22, 2014.

Spring Valley Student Farm is collaboration with Dining Services, Residential Life, EcoHouse as part of First Year Programs and Learning Communities, and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
