  • 5/11 UConn Writes: Together at Home (call for writing)

Are you a creative writer? Do you have poetry, short fiction, or creative nonfiction about the pandemic (or otherwise) to share with the community? We need your work!

With our inability to hold further in-person Long River Reading Series Events this semester, the Creative Writing Program has decided to take the "UConn Writes" Poetry Reading/Open Mic series digital. We are calling for videos of UConn community members (students, faculty, staff, community partners, or friends) reading their work. These clips will then be edited together to create at least one "UConn Writes: Together at Home" video that will be posted on Youtube and circulated throughout the community. This video will not only showcase the amazing creative work that we see at every "UConn Writes" event, it will also serve as a token to remember this current moment, and our community's reaction to it, by for years to come.

We are accepting video readings of poetry, music, short fiction/nonfiction and whatever else you might come up with! The writing may be about the pandemic, but that is not a requirement.

We are accepting submissions until at least May 11th, and videos can be any length (just note that if it is several minutes long, it may be trimmed down).

Please circulate this call to anyone who might be interested in contributing. Video submissions can be emailed to:
    aaron.proudfoot@uconn.edu

Thank you! Stay safe and stay strong!
